Keep the Shift, Ctrl, Alt or AltGr pressed

The most common use of the Shift, Ctrl, Alt or AltGr keys is to type an extended or upper case character or a shortcut. Therefore to reduce the number of typing, these keys are automatically released when the next key is pressed. However, in some case it is necessary to keep them pressed. To do so, press first the lock key .

Examples when lock key is needed:

  • Insert Ansi characters with the numpad.
  • Task switching window.
