New key

The New key toolbar lists available key types. See Key types for their description and properties.

Click on a type and then somewhere on the desktop to add a new key to the project.

There is actually 9 groups of keys:

  • Guidelines: Designer only. Add guides to easily align keys.
  • Keystroke: Keys to send characters, symbols or full texts to other application.
  • Misc: Include the keys which does not fit any other group such as Image key.
  • Automation client: Keys which send commands to other applications.
  • Automation server: Keys which can be driven from other applications.
  • Container: Keys which are used to include other templates in the current project.
  • Keyboard: Keys to open and set position of other keyboards.
  • Calculator: Calculator.
  • Language: Keys to switch the operating system language.
Multi-insertion Press this button before selecting a key type to add more than one key of the same type.
Exit insert mode Press this button to exit the multi-insert mode or to cancel insertion.
